We partner with the Northern Stokes Food Pantry, located at the Francisco Presbyterian Church. The serve on the first and third Thursdays of every month. Hours are from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Another option is the East Stokes Rescue Mission in Walnut Cove. Here is their information: How we feed and help others…
We have a food pantry that operates 5 days a week, 3 hours a day. People who find themselves in a crisis situation may come to our office and receive a crisis amount of food that will last approximately 7 days. They may receive food 6 times a year. However, if they are 62 or older or permanently disabled, they may receive food every month because of the difficulty of living on a fixed income. We also do referrals to Crisis Control in Winston Salem for free medicines. We also have a Thrift Store in which donated items are sold, and the profit fully supports the work that is done for the ministry. The Thrift Store gives free clothing to our clients when it is needed, and can be given in the Pantry to be used in the Store up to 6 times a year.

Our office works closely with Department of Social Services as well as King Outreach Ministry and use the same database. This allows us to be able to keep up to date files, and keeps misuse of the system to a minimum.

We receive food donations from local organizations, schools, churches and individuals. We pick up donated food at Food Lion 7 days a week consisting of meats, deli, breads and desserts, and from Ingles 5 days a week picking up breads and desserts. We have volunteers which visit Second Harvest Food Bank each week, and we purchase food for .19 cents per pound. All other food that is needed to fill our food orders is purchased at the lowest price possible.

Marchelle Brown is the Executive Director of East Stokes Outreach Ministry and began her career at the ministry August 2006. Volunteers staff the offices and food pantry where jobs include: receptionist, interviewer, food pantry workers, and food pick ups from Ingles, Food Lion and Second Harvest.
